This podcast is about blessing your spirit as it blesses your sleep, and today we focus on learning to listen to the truth.

Sometimes the truth that is hardest to hear is the only thing that saves us

But the truth is not always easy to find, or easy to accept. Welcome to Resting in the Word, a podcast designed to help heal your spirit and quiet your mind as we meditate upon some of the most calming verses from the Holy Scripture.

I'm your host, Connie Minnell, and today we're focusing on revealing the truth.

A few years ago there was an energetic little 6-year-old girl at the school where I taught. When she became feverish and tired, her parents thought she just had a bad case of the flu. But her symptoms were worsening...

Sometimes the truth that's hardest to hear can be that which saves us.

God has placed the scripture in our lives to help us find the truth. It may not always be the truth that our spirits want to hear, but it's the truth that God wants to reveal to us so that we can allow His healing to begin in our lives. Whatever struggles you have experienced today, ask God to show you His truth in the matter.

I'm on this journey to find a good night’s sleep right along with you. As I said in episode 1, “Introduction,” I struggle with sleep issues.  I’ve tried everything, but nothing helped long term. I've been grappling with this problem for over four years. Back then, I was much sicker than I ever knew and was only getting about three or four hours of sleep a night. I blamed it on stress, chronic pain, headaches, lousy diet, little exercise; you name it. Even though the stress, headaches, and health improved, I was still struggling to get even five hours of sleep a night...

The following is the SCRIPTURE as read in the audio link above:

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. (Jeremiah 29:11-12 New International Version (NIV))

And ye shall seek me, and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13 King James Version (KJV))

Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. (Proverbs 30:5  English Standard Version (ESV))

Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. (Psalm 25:4-5 NIV)

Judge me, O  Lord; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the  Lord; therefore I shall not slide. Examine me, O  Lord, and prove me; try my reins and my heart. For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth. (Psalm 26:1-3 KJV)

Praise the  Lord  with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise. For the word of the  Lord  is right; and all his works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the  Lord. (Ps. 33:2-5 KJV)

Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. (Ps. 40:11 KJV)

Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in thee: yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast. I will cry unto God most high; unto God that performeth all things for me. He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up. Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth. (Ps. 57:1-3 KJV)

For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone. Teach me thy way, O  Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore. (Ps. 86:10-12  KJV)

Make a joyful noise unto the  Lord, all ye lands. Serve the  Lord  with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the  Lord  he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the  Lord  is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. (Ps. 100 KJV)

The  Lord  bless thee, and keep thee: The  Lord  make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The  Lord  lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. (Numbers 6:24-26 KJV)
